Crafts kids ideas are easily obtainable for all ages and learning levels. There are any fun and creative activities and educational crafts that you can get your children involved in to use their imaginations and spark their creative sides. We will explore a few of these fun-filled ideas.

Coloring pages - This is one of the most popular crafts kids ideas. It has many benefits such as it is fun to do, it keeps your kids busy doing something productive and fun rather than having them sit in front of the TV and it develops their skills such as hand-eye coordination, decision making and brain stimulation. You can pop on the Internet to find numerous sites where you can print out coloring pages for your children to color with crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Don’t have a printer? That’s okay too, because there are interactive websites where your kids can still color on these coloring sheets by filling in images with the click of the mouse.

Edible Jewelry - What a fun, creative and delicious crafts kids idea. Supplies needed are shoestring licorice and different types of treats such as cheerios, apple rings, gummy lifesavors, or fruit loops. Make edible little necklaces and bracelets by stringing the treats on the licorice string and tying the ends together. They can wear them, eat them or do both at the same time.

Baking - Yet another fun activity that you can do with your kids. Bake a cake and have your children decorate it using frosting, sprinkles, jelly tubes and their imaginations. They can also create cookies in the shapes of stars, hearts, and animals with different shaped cookie cutters.

Finger puppets - These are a fairly simple crafts kids idea that your kids can create for any occasion. There is not a lot of cutting or unsafe materials (although small parts and pieces should be glued on with adult supervision to avoid choking). Let your kids imaginations go wild as they create little animal puppets with wiggly eyes, felt bodies, legs and ears and even whiskers.

Children can indulge in many different crafts kids ideas for any occasion. Whether it is a rainy day, special occasion such as a birthday party or a holiday such as Christmas or Easter, getting your kids involved in crafts is such a great way to help them learn, develop their skills and keep them busy with many different artistic goodies.

What kinds of  kids crafts will help to break up a day filled with lesson plans, errands and other responsibilities?

When crafting at home with small children it’s also a good idea for the parent to be prepared ahead of time for when the weather is bad or the kids are bored. Start a craft materials stash just as you would for your own craft or sewing projects.

Kids crafts are as varied as the types of children they’re meant to entertain. For younger kids, crayons, coloring books and plastic figurines will keep kids busy for hours, but many parents and teachers prefer a more ‘hands-on’ approach to kids crafts.

When you want to spend some quality time with the little ones you will be ready to craft on the spur of the moment.

Kids crafts can be created with simple ingredients like paper, glue, scissors and crayons or markers. Designing cards, masterpieces or just scribbling will keep various age groups entertained, and only imagination is the limit to what children can produce if given the opportunity.

Watercolors and paintbrushes are also a favorite with kids, and finger-painting is still as popular as it was thirty or forty years ago. If you don’t want the mess of paints, crayons or markers, try beads, yarn and plastic needles to help your kids create construction paper animals or pockets for letters, chores or homework assignments.

Kids crafts are an important part of your child’s life and help to encourage creativity and ingenuity. There are no right or wrong crafts to choose for kids, other than making sure that they are age appropriate. Younger children may need supervision and help at times, but older children are fine in creating and designing things out of whatever craft supplies you have on hand.

But always remember  safety when crafting with small children is just as important as being prepared. No sharp objects that can cut fingers or poke eyes and depending on the age of the child, no tiny items that can cause a choking hazard. Don’t let the kids handle hot items like irons or hot liquids.

Most ideas were passed back and forth between the teachers. We modified projects to fit the age group. Many ideas came from the Teachers Resource Center and just plain old brainstorming.

You can find almost anything if you have time to research and collect. There are many sites dedicated to kid’s crafts.

Whichever craft projects you choose to do with your kids, no matter where you find them, be prepared, keep safety in mind and have lots of fun crafting away.
